Week 18 – 31st Aug 2019

Hornchurch Athletic IV  251-5 off 40 overs. (McGarry 3-41, Sullivan 2-36, Duke 59, Rehmann 63, O Rehmann 36*, Chaseman 37) beat  South Woodham Ferrers III 129 all out off 34.3 overs. (Dumas 28, Jason McGarry 26, H. Kahn 3-30, P. Jones 3-18 & S. Rahman 2-13) by 122 runs.

Rayleigh V were asked to bat first and scored 249-3 in 40 overs. Verinder 104, Turner 71 put on 194 for 1st wicket before all 3 wickets taken went to Ben Mason. In pursuit Tillingham III ended on 190 all out with Mears 66 and Butterwick 49 the top scorers to lose by 59 runs.

Great Waltham IIl travelled to Rainham IV knowing that only a maximum point victory would secure them second place in the league. With the toss won, Great Waltham decided to bat on a green wicket and bumpy outfield. Great Waltham III started well with both De’ath (62) and Webb (35) scoring runs easily. This was followed with Harman scoring 75 from 31 balls and Kent (56) scoring his maiden 50 off of 65 balls. Great Waltham 3rd Xl all out for 273 from 36.3 overs. Pick off the Rainham bowlers were C. Vickers with 3-14 from 3 overs and Oates with 3-17 from 2.3 overs.

After a fantastic curry for tea, Rainham IV started poorly and were 9-2 from 4 overs. They never recovered from this and only Jackson (16), Little (15) and Courteney (14) makes double figures. Rainham being all out for 78. The bowling highlights were Rolfe 2-16, Reed 3-17 and Richards 2-6. Great Waltham won by 195 runs. A game played in a great spirit – well done both teams.

Basildon & Pitsea III won the toss and elected to bowl. Oaklands were all out for 102 in 33.3 overs. Adam Brien scored 23 and Stu Ayris 18. Best bowling for Basildon & Pitsea was R. Eustace 4-14. In reply Basildon & Pitsea scored 103 for 4 off 27.3 overs. B. Waterman 36* and A. McIver 21. Best bowling for Oaklands was Trevor Crisp 2-17 off 9 overs and James Ayris 1-26 off 9 overs.  Basildon and Pitsea won by 6 wickets.


Week 17 – 24th Aug 2019

South Woodham Ferrers III 66 all out from 28 overs. Himesh Patel 5-10 off 7 lost to Basildon & Pitsea III 68-2 from 12.4 overs. I. Anderson 30 by 8 wickets.

Rainham III 148 all out, 37.3ov (Light 35, Downton 26, Meek 3-19 & Lang 3-33) beat Tillingham III 53 all out 24.3ov (Shipton 14, D. Vickers 3-6 & Purton 3-17) by 95 runs.

Hornchurch Athletic IV played Oaklands away and opted to bat. Spencer Duke batted until an injury forced him to retire hurt and then Andy little (45) and Steve Richards 72* along with Khan 52* pushed the total to 262 for 4. R. Davies bowled well with 2 early wickets.

Oaklands chase began poorly with B. Duke picking up 2 early wickets. Sullivan (37*) and R. Davies (32) batted solidly but Oaklands were never in the chase and finished on 165-6 with Hornchurch Athletic winning comfortable by 97 runs.

Rayleigh VI 155-7. (R. Verrinder 52, Trim 5-23) lost to Springfield V 156-1. (Morritt 90*) by 9 wickets.


Week 16 – 17th Aug 2019

Oaklands 76 all out. (Lemon 19*, Allen 17, Shipton 4-8 & Mason 2-5) lost to Tillingham III 78-5. Bailey 40* ( Ashworth 14, Allen 2-33 & J. Ayris 1-22) by 5 wickets.

With Great Waltham III travelling to Hornchurch Ath IV this game could be decisive in achieving the second promotion spot. Hornchurch Ath started like a train and were 122 without loss after 20 overs. Rehman made 63 in a fine opening partnership but the visitors gained 3 quick wickets – 124 for 3 from 22 overs. However Cheesman 58 and Roe 38 made good runs as Hornchurch Ath set a daunting total of 240 from their 40 overs.

Great Waltham needed a good start but unfortunately Reed was caught behind second ball. Then Hornchurch Athletic youngster, Brad Duke bowled an excellent line and length all afternoon and ended with fantastic figures of 7.1 overs, 1 maiden, 7 for 37. Webb 49 and Harman 30 were the only Great Waltham batsmen to score significant runs. With Great Waltham III posting 145 all out, Hornchurch won by 95 runs – a convincing win for the home team.

South Woodham Ferrers III batted first against Rainham IV and made 143-5 off 40 overs. Tom Dumas secured his maiden 50, McGarry 21, Connor 3-21 & Porter 1-4 lost to Rainham IV who batted and made 146-8 from 30.1 overs. Naveen Tamma 41, Little 27, McGarry 4-23 & Marcello Gold 1-25 by 2 wickets.

Springfield V 193 for 9 (Vince 47, Murugesh 44, Joe 3-26) beat Basildon and Pitsea III 192 for 5 (Vanderputt 47, Dhruv 50) by 1 wicket.


Week 15 – 10th Aug 2019

Rainham IV 185 all out (40 overs), L. Sutton 47, K. Light 31 , Chalk 3-17 & Warne 2-30 lost to Springfield V 188-3 (29.4 overs). J. Vince 102, Freestone 27 C. Sutton 1-18 & F. Oates 1-30 by 7 wickets.

Oaklands 132 all out. (Davies 34, Harman 4-14) lost to Great Waltham III 136-3.(De’ath 72*, D. Harman 30*, Davies 2-25) by 7 wickets.

Rayleigh VI 196-5. R. Verrinder 112* & D. Armin 2-42 lost to Basildon & Pitsea III 199-6. D. Armin 70*, B. Waterman 67, P. Ayres 46 & J. Andrew’s 2-40 by 4 wickets.

Hornchurch Athletic IV won the toss and put the home side in to bat. V. Mears batted through for 74 not out with Jones taking 3-26 in a total of 174-6. Hornchurch Athletic batted with Spencer Duke (58) and Luke Pontin (47) almost saw them home but a mini collapse saw Tillingham III almost snatch it at the death but Hornchurch Athletic won with 2 overs to spare scoring 175 for 6.


 

Week 14 – 3rd Aug 2019 

Springfield V batted first and scored 194-8 off 40 overs, (Vince 58, Chalk 36, Hunt 3-36 & Ahmed 2-16) beat Hornchurch Athletic IV 192-9 off 40 overs, (Pontin 37, Rehman 30, Salil 5-38 – on debut!- by 2 runs.

Rayleigh IV 87 all out (Williams 34, Sutton 3-6) lost to Rainham IV 88 for 5 (Spears 23, Light 18*, Sanderson 2/20. U. Kuhn 2/18). by 5 wickets.

Great Waltham III won the toss and decided to bat but quickly rued their decision. They were bowled out for 81 in 26.5 overs. Pick of the Tillingham III bowlers were Shipton with 9 overs, 6 maidens, 3 wickets for 7 runs and Lang 6 overs, 1 maiden, 2 wickets for 22 runs. Tillingham rattled these runs off in quick speed. Ashworth (23) and Bailly (28) opened the battling only to be captured by Emily Thorpe’s bowling. Tillingham 82 for 2 from 14.1 overs.

A bowling dominated game with South Woodham Ferrers III’s being bowled all out for 80 runs off 26 overs with the wickets being spread around 7 different bowlers. G Cox top scored for South Woodham with 23. Oaklands reached their wining total of 82 for 7 off 28 overs with Joe Cox taking 4 wickets from 9 overs for 21 runs. J Allan was top scorer for Oaklands with 22 not out.

Week 12 –  20th July 2019

Great Waltham III batted first and made 221-4 off 40 overs. (Reed 76, Eaglesham 75*, McGarry 9-3-19-3) beat South Woodham Ferrers III 142-7 from their 40 overs. (Dumas 36, Reed 6-1-21-3 & Rickards 5-0-10-2). Great Waltham won by 79 runs.

Week 11 – 13th July 2019

Hornchurch Athletic IV went to Rainham IV with 4 new players and chose to field. Rainham got of to a flyer and had a 100 in no time but Max Goonitlke and Steve Hunt forced back the pace with Rich Pontin bowling a tidy 4 overs. Both Max and Steve picked up 3 wickets each, Connor and Purton made 60 each with Downton forging a quick 50 at the end to take the score to 271-7. Hornchurch batted with Pontin and Rehman making a brisk start until Purton tempted Pontin into a misjudgement and Connor took the wicket of debutante Ali Khan. Rehman and Bradshaw then added a quick 50 and Hornchurch were in the game when Rehman fell, one of 3 wickets to wakely, Hornchurch who then limped to 158 all out as they lost wickets regularly.

Rayleigh VI batted first against SWF III and made 213 for 7 of 40 overs (Turner 74, Verrinder 63, G. Cox  2-28, . McGarry 7-0-31-2). In reply South Woodham Ferrers III made 97 all out of 31.2 overs. B. Stanley 24, P. Cox 9-3-22-2, S. Fernando 4-0-16-2 & J.Athol 3.2-1-4-2. Rayleigh won by 116 runs.

The top of the table clash took place at Admirals Park, Chelmsford between Springfield V and Great Waltham III. With the visitors winning the toss Springfield were asked to bat. Despite the green wicket Springfield started very well. An opening partnership, between S Morritt (72) and R Harvey (28), of 103 in 19 overs set a great platform. The unorthodox Murugesh showed some powerful hitting and scored 80 quick runs ably supported by Vince (31). Springfield made 242 for 7 from 40 overs. Pick of the Waltham bowling was Rolfe 1 for 26 from 8 overs and Josh De’ath 2 for 27 from 4 overs.

Great Waltham needed a good start in their innings if they were to get anywhere close to the 242 runs needed for victory. Unfortunately they found themselves 22 for 3 from 12 overs with both Mean and Lloyd picking up wickets. The visitors never really recovered and despite D. Harman and S. Eaglesham making 45 and 37 respectively, the damage had been done. Great Waltham IIl were all out for 136 from 29.1 overs. Both Lloyd 2-15 from 6 overs and Morritt Junior 2-2 from 3.1 overs were Springfield stars. A home victory by 106 runs.

Week 10 – 6th July 2019

Springfield V 214-7 (Trim 43, Murugesh 43, Vince 36) beat South Woodham Ferrers III 95 all out by 119 runs.

Oaklands won toss and elected to field. Rainham IV scored 183-8 from their 40 overs. A. Connor 52, A. Stouchbury 23, J. Ayris 2-32 & S. Ayris 2-38. In response Oaklands scored 187-5 from 39 overs. R. Davies 78, D. Ayris 26, A. Connor 2-27 & S. Jackson 1-12 to win by 5 wickets.

Great Waltham III won the toss and invited Rayleigh VI to bat. Rayleigh started slowly scoring 30 runs in 14 overs without loss. The break through came with Payne bowling Turner for 7. The next partnership was a good one – Baldwin (39) and Paik (19) at the crease putting on 43 runs. 67 for 1 from 26 overs. With Reed and Harman now in the attack the Rayleigh score became 107 for 4 from 34 overs. A final rally saw the visitor score 150-6 from their allotted 40 overs. Pick of the Great Waltham bowlers were Reed, 2-23 of 6 overs and A Eaglesham, 2-20 from 4 overs.

Great Waltham 3rd XI started poorly and were 28-3 from 7 overs, Captain Cox taking 2 wickets. Reed 51 and Harman 67 however put on a fourth wicket partnership of 123 which saw the Green Caps to a score of 151-3 to win by 7 wickets.

Hornchurch IV 174-6 off 40 overs (S. Duke 51, G. Ayres 3-34) lost to Basildon & Pitsea III 176-2 off 33 overs (Waterman 68* & J. Mciver 59) by 8 wickets.


Week 9 – 29th June 2019

Hornchurch IV visited South Woodham Ferrers III on a sunny day and  and the home team got to 166. Curtain 32 and N. Pretty 26 scoring runs Duke bowled well with 3-25 and then Hornchurch got of to a slow but steady start until Khan came in at number 5 and smashed 70* to win the game with a young Bradley Duke 24* also playing brilliantly meaning Hornchurch won by 8 wkts.

Basildon & Pitsea III 124 all out of 37.3 ov (Waterman 33) lost to Oakland’s 128-4 off 33.4 overs.(Gill 33*) by 6 wickets.

Rainham IV 131 all out, 32.4 ov (Tamma 57, C. Vickers 16, G. Reed 5-28, J. Barker 2-23) lost to Great Waltham III 134 -5, 21.3ov (Webb 52, D. Harman 27, Mk Patel 2-12) by 5 wickets.

Rayleigh VI 128-7(Andrews 47, Mason 4-14) lost to Tillingham III 129-5 (Mason 54) by 5 wickets.


Week 8 – 22nd June 2019

Rainham IV won toss and asked Tillingham III to bat then after a slow start Tillingham reached 129 all out. The pick of the batsman was D. Mason with 38. Rainham were helped by several dropped catches and reached 132-5 to win by 5 wickets.

Basildon & Pitsea III batted first and made 140 all out off 40 overs. P. Waterman 26, P. Ayres 42, G. Cox 5-19 then South Woodham Ferrers III batted second and made 141 for 5 from 39 overs. Jason McGarry 73*, Tom Dumas 21*,
T Edmonds 2-34. South Woodham Ferrers III went on to win by 5 wickets.

Hornchurch IV won the toss and elected to bat. They a scored 207-5 in their 40 overs. S. Duke 83, A. Little 51, N. Roe 35, J. Allan 2-41, 1-27 beat Oaklands who replied with 175 all out in 36.3 overs. J. Gill 58, R. Davies 30, P. Kettley 28, A. Thomas 4-43, P. Jones 3-14 and to win by 32 runs.

Rayleigh VI 158 all out. R. Ashford 4-30, T. Mean 2-8, L. Morritt 2-31, J. Andrews 35, J Himpfon-Jones 31 lost to Springfield V 162-6. T. Mean 45*, A. Morritt 44, I. Chalk 33*, Callaway 2-31, J. Andrews 2-54 by 4 wickets.


Week 7 – 15th June 2019

Hornchurch Athletic IV visited Great Waltham III who won toss and decided to bowl, Jo De’ath got 3 for 15 and the other Waltham bowlers picked up 2 wickets each as Hornchurch limped to 120 from 40 overs with Pontin getting 27. Phillips and Bradley Duke opened the bowling and kept Hornchirch in the game with a wicket each and tight spell but Tanner blasted a rapid 68*. The game was over within 20 overs as Great Waltham ran out winners by 8 wickets.

Tillingham III won the toss and put Oaklands into bat. P. Kettley 75, J. Flowers 24, G. Handley 24 with D. Shipton getting 2-16 as Oaklands scored 192-6 off their 40 overs. In reply Tillingham III made 134-6 from their 40 overs. V. Mears 48, D. Mason 36*, A.Bailey 12, J. Ayris 3-10 and S. Ayris 2-31. Oaklands won by 58 runs.

Springfield V 246-7 off 40 overs. Vince 53, Mcloud 44, Murgesh 39 beat Basildon & Pitsea III 120 all out. Warley 3-32 by 126 runs.

Week 6 – 8th June 2019

Toss won by Hornchurch IV who decided to bowl first and made good progress with an opening stand of 79 before Bailey was out for 32. Tillingham III progressed to 156-7 in their allotted 40 overs. In reply Hornchurch set off at a quick pace with some help from Tillingham who dropping Meeks three times. He was eventually out for 69 and N. Roe went on to make 50*. Hornchurch only lost 1 more wicket to finish 157-2 to win by 8 wickets.

Oaklands won the toss and had no hesitation in putting the visitors into bat. At 15 for 4 from 11 overs this looked the right decision! Great Waltham’s III middle order then came alive – Jake De’ath hit 75 from 36 balls and Phil Rolfe 56. Pick of the Oaklands bowlers were J Allan with 9 overs, 4 maidens, 14 runs for 4 wickets and J Ayris with 8.4 overs 3 maidens, 52 runs for 4 wickets. Great Waltham all out for 186. The home teams innings started slowly – 28 without loss from 15 overs. Top scorers for Oaklands were G Handley 38 and J Allan 23. Pick of the Great Watham bowlers were G Reed with 5 for 26 from 7.2 overs and J Reed 3 for 31 from 8 overs. Oaklands all out for 142. Great Waltham III were victorious by 44 runs.

Week 5 – 1st June 2019

Oaklands won the toss and elected to field on a rather hot day. South Woodham Ferrers III scored 133 all out from 39.1 overs. Caples 29, D. McGarry 28*, G. Cox 20, J. Ayris 4-26 and R. Davies 4-39 (both from 9 overs).

Oaklands scored 134 for 2 off 27.5 overs. (P. Kettley 56*, R. Davies 34, J. Gill 20*, D. McGarry 2-34). Oaklands won by 8 wickets.

Springfield V put Hornchurch Athletic IV into the field and were were helped by the A12 traffic which prevented two HA players not arriving until the 15th over by which time a flying start had been obtained. Despite Noah Phillips wonderful spell runs leaked at the other end and Springfield V kept up the momentum with most of the team pitching in, with Morrit top scoring on 42 in a total of 251. HA also got of to a flying start with Rich Pontin blasting a serene 41 in a rapid opening stand of 71, after his departure to young Harry Lloyd HA steadily lost wickets with colts Lloyd and Vice ending up with 3 wickets each as Springfield V ran out winners by 71 runs.

Great Waltham III won toss and decided to bowl. Tillingham III made slow progress and reached 131-8 in 40 overs thanks mainly to Butterwick 39 and D. Mason 42. In reply Great Waltham III lost 4 early wickets to Tillingham III opening bowler R. Lang. G. Reed 41 and J. Reed 41 steadied the ship and saw the home side over the line by 6 wickets.


Week 4 – 25th May 2019

Oakland’s 161 all out ( Kettley 48, Ayris 26, Lloyd 3-21, Mean 2-10) beat Springfield V 136 all out (Mean 34 , Morritt 26, Leighton 3-23, Davies 3-44) by 25 runs.

Hornchurch Athletic IV won the toss and decided to bat at Raphaels park with its new enlarged boundarys, HACC gemrafted to 181 with Shaz Rehman scoring a subdued 68 and others chipping in with 20’s and Noah Phillips at end hitting some crucial list blows which were to make the difference in a tight game. Rayleigh VI lost 2 early wickets but recovered to get to within 20 runs of the target with Verrinder 38 being their top scorer but Noah Phillips 3-19 and with a tight spell from Brad Duke whose 6 overs only yielded 13 runs HACC were able to seal the game.

Tillingham IIIs batted first and made 183-6. Batting highlights were: V. Mears 53, D. Mason 40 and A. Bealey 39. The bowling highlight was: Daniel McGarry 9-3-27-4. South Woodham Ferrers IIIs made 129-6 from their 40 overs. The batting highlights were: McGarry 36 and Pretty 29, bowling highlight was Mason 7-3-7-2. Tillingham IIIs won by 54 runs.

Basildon & Pitsea IIIs 147- all out from 40 overs. A. Hayton top scored with 53 and J. Barker took 6-21 off 8 overs. Great Waltham III chased the runs down to win by 5 wickets scoring 148-5 off 29.2 overs. J Barker with 52.

Rayleigh VI 133 all out  (Verinder 30, Treweek 26, Leighton 4-14) Lost to Oaklands 136-7. (S Ayris 28. Leighton 23. Davies 21*) by 3 wickets

South Woodham Ferrers III 153-6. (Cox 65. Reed 2-26. Richards 2-18) beat Gt Waltham III 152-6 (Alfie Eaglesham 69. Gavin Reed 44. D McGarry 2-35) by 4 Wickets.

Great Waltham III 138-3 (S.Eaglesham 61, A.Eaglesham 22) beat Springfield V 137 all out. (Mean 28, Blundell 23, Muguresh 22, Kent 2-16, Payne 2-42) by 7 Wickets.

Week 1 – 4th May 2019

Springfield V South Woodham Ferrers III – Walkover to Springfield.

HACC IV won toss and batted first in a rain reduced 38 over match with Spencer Duke holding the batting together with 64 out of a total of 129. Basildon got of to a good start but Paul Jones with best figures of 5-14 set off a collapse and was well supported by colt Ethan Parr in his first adult game with 2-12 and S. Hunt with 2-29 ended Basildons reply in the 29th over being bowled out for 129.

Rainham IV 123 all out (Smith 24, Southburn 18, J Ayris 3-34, S. Ayris 2-13, G. Handley 2-0) beat Oaklands 66 all out (Davies 22, Vickers 3-13, M.Patel 2-6, D.Vickers 2-11) by 57 runs.

Rayleigh VI entertained Great Waltham III at a very cold and blustery Rawerth Lane. The visitors won the toss and invited the home team to bat. Rayleigh made 163-7 from their allocated overs. Top scores were opener Verrinder with 37, Gallaway 24 and Bumpus 39. The best bowlers for Waltham were Kent 3-23 and Elles 2-14. Great Waltham III chased down the runs with 6 overs to spare. 164-4 from 34 overs. The star of the show was opener Webb with 93 not out supported by Eaglesham 36 and Clout 18. Great Waltham won by 6 wickets.
