Galleywood III visited Great Totham III looking to reverse the defeat from earlier in the Summer. The away skipper Gray won the toss at the picturesque Great Braxted ground and elected to bat. This looked a good decision as the openers eased themselves to 46 without loss. However the introduction of spin inspired a mini collapse and Galleywood found themselves 67-5. The innings was rebuilt by Boxer (44) and Bailes (45) and Galleywood reached 167-9 from their 40 overs. Wicket Takers for Great Totham were Croft 1-25 off 7, McCausland 2-39 off 9, Yeates 3-23 off 9 and Archibald 2-18 off 3.

A solid start from the Ridge brothers was brought to an end when Ben Ridge chipped to Dickson off of J. Wicks. Thereafter wickets fell steadily and once the powerful hitting of Yeates was undone by a Dickson slower ball, Galleywood turned the screw on the run rate and and Great Totham finished their 40 overs on 133-8 with Galleywood winning by 34 runs, bringing the 2019 Division 9 season to an end.

Warm sunshine, a pleasant breeze and a very wet and green wicket greeted the teams at Beaulieu Park Rec. Beaulieu Park II won the toss and did not hesitate to bowl. Galleywood III struggled to get the ball away and after Steve Adams was out to a freak catch off a thirty yard deflection from another fielder a succession of wickets fell leaving Galleywood 47-7. Barbara 1/16, Williams 1-17, Hunt 1-11, Pathak 2-9 and Paul Govus 4-39 were the wicket takers.

After Tea, three early strikes from Euan Singleton lifted Galleywood’s spirits but with too many short balls, Boorer 31 and Qureshi 37 saw Beaulieu Park to the brink of victory before a late run out by Stev Dickson off his own bowling meant that Beaulieu Park reached their victory target with 6 wickets to spare. Great Baddow III won the toss and following significant rainfall in the previous 24 hours put Galleywood III into bat. A careful start ensued given the wet nature of the wicket and a stand of 33 between Gray and Adams was broken when Williamson trapped Adams LBW for 12. Baddow’s bowling continued to keep a check on the run rate and with a couple of wickets Galleywood were 90-4 after 29 overs. Momentum changed with first through Singleton with Walton then Sibbons and Boddu with Galleywood reaching 182-6 with the main scorers being Singleton 49, Gray 34 and Boddu 26. Williamson 4-56, Pulham 2-13 and Greenway 1-37 were the wicket takers.

After an excellent tea and with the wicket having dried out Baddow set about their reply. Two early breakthroughs by John Wicks with the assistance of catches by Adams and Williams gave Galleywood an early lift. However Lyndon 72 and Wigley 27 put Baddow in the ascendency. However once these batters went in quick succession to Sam Wicks and Steve Dickson, Galleywood were back in the game. With wickets falling and Baddow closing in on the target, 8 were needed off the last over bowled by Steve Dickson. 4 byes off the first delivery shifted that balance Baddow’s way. However  excellent bowling left Baddow needing 3 to win off the last ball and with a swipe into the leg side yielding one, Galleywood won an exciting finish to this inter league match.
